Suzie Maez is a New York-based iPhone photographer who uses her camera to frame the stories that exist in the mundane. Daring to capture what often goes overlooked, her singular vision makes the strange familiar and the familiar strange again. Between her prolific street photography and carefully scored micro films, Suzie pushes the boundaries of the medium through visual and thematic experimentation. In this sense, various processes of image distortion are deeply embedded in her art. As seen in her recent publication, Gorgeous and Guilty, Suzie finds catharsis in storytelling through the juxtaposition of images whose unlikely pairings form small narratives, often to a humorous end.
